Your face has seared it’s image in It’s crazy how these things begin You’re a light that shot direct to me Past stars black holes and anomalies You’re falling over me While we’re dancing in the street You tilt your head to read The words spilling out my eyes I’m pulverized I’ve been around this block before There’s darkness always at the door So lets have more drink, my dear Slow time down 'til it disappears I’m falling over you While we’re dancing like fools Jesus, you’re so cool I can’t believe it’s true I’m all in on you

Matchless 03:31
When you wear that dress it drives me crazy Crazy When you wear that dress it drives me crazy Crazy Well I know I think you are matchless, baby Well I know I think we are the future, baby Well I think I know how you will help me save me Well I know I think your kiss it throws me spinning

My brain won't stop screaming that you'll walk away Please if you'll just agree to let me stay awhile Awhile Awhile Awhile Awhile You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate Baby, I know what it means to be with you (People slip past, God knows what I'd do) Baby, I know what it means to be with you (People slip past, God knows what I'd do) Baby, I know what it means to be with you (People slip past, God knows what I'd do) You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate You're my thirst You're my water You're an interstate

Cottonwood 05:26
(Here comes the flood) Baby, you sink your teeth deep into my neck I swear to god that I'm about to jet Baby, you sink your teeth deep into my neck I swear to god that I'm about to jet The storm will blow us together Until our spines are severed Calm down, bobcat The wind wreaks havoc A bobcat walks into a bar and picks a fight I doubt any of us will make it out alive I doubt any of us will make it out alive The storm will blow us together Until our spines are severed Do you smell that rain Seeping through the cracks? Dripping down the walls Itching for a brawl Do you smell that rain Seeping through the cracks? Dripping down the walls Itching for a brawl Do you smell that rain Seeping through the cracks? Dripping down the walls Itching for a brawl Do you smell that rain Seeping through the cracks? Dripping down the walls Itching for a brawl Do you smell that rain Seeping through the cracks? Dripping down the walls Itching for a brawl

Don't stop believing in me, baby Rome is on the edge of the flames. History Green on red like blood in a Tuscan field Your eyes slice me. My guts spill out. Full reveal If we had only gone north to Florence You keep using works like divorce. Nonsense Red on green. Hush, don't make a scene Just have it all. My heart, liver and spleen Think before you kill this all Rome doesn't always have to fall (Think before you jump) (Think before you jump) (Think before you jump) My family is dropping like flies yearly You're all I have until I die, darling Red, blue, green like stars up on the screen Just kiss me while the strings soar triumphantly Think before you kill this all Rome doesn't always have to fall The years go by so fast Our clock goes tick tick tick tick Think before you kill this all Rome doesn't always have to fall Think before you kill this all Rome doesn't always have to fall

Vagabonds like zombies in a lull Never watch which way they go As I dropped you off at the depot On the last day of summer The embrace never really got going The kiss I can't even remember giving I carried your bag to bus nine On the last day of summer The sun makes its way to the exit Flowers give their final testaments Your face goes blurry in my mind On the last day I saw you On the last day of summer
8.
The future towers above Chrome and glass and love I can't help but look down The past won't lose ground The future siphons us in Forgives us all our sins The voices hiss and they buzz The ghosts of all my ex-loves The good times were just a trap Reach for them and bad times just come flooding back The good times were a trap Reach for them and bad times just come flooding back The good times were a trap Reach for them and bad times just come flooding back The good times were a trap Reach for them and bad times just come flooding back Futures they've all gotta end In white rooms surrounded by friends The past will catch its prey The juju of my decay

Hey, can you hear me? Is the message coming through? It's shot through space and time Past stars black holes and moons You’re a galaxy away My memories of you dissolve like papier-mâché in water You’re a galaxy away My memories of you dissolve like papier-mâché in water Hey, remember That February chill At four in the morning Jerome’s streets foggy and still You’re a galaxy away My memories of you dissolve like papier-mâché in water You’re a galaxy away My memories of you dissolve like papier-mâché in water

about

Ten Letters Dissolving in Water is an intimate study of a modern relationship from inception to dissolution and beyond, as filtered through the failings of human memories. Afternoon Author uses analog synthesizers and mangled human voices to weave a story about love lost, found, and forgotten.

The songs frame themselves against the backdrop of Afternoon Author’s home state of Arizona, inspired by deserted desert highways in the middle of the night, haunted mining towns, and feral saloons visited by bobcats.

about

Afternoon Author Phoenix, Arizona

Afternoon Author is an indie-electro group from Phoenix, AZ. The sonic equivalent of taking Radiohead, Caribou, Baths, and SOHN and tangling them all up in your junk drawer, Afternoon Author straddles some crooked line between downtempo, synth-pop, synth-wave, and indie electronic music.

We have finished recording our debut album, set to release at the very. very beginning of 2021. Stay safe!
